Share your voice for Smartville

In Smartville, we believe that great ideas start with citizens! With the Smartville Participatory Budget, every resident can help decide how part of the city’s budget is spent. Together, we build a city that truly reflects what matters most to its people.

Do you have an idea to make your neighbourhood greener, friendlier or safer? Or would you like to start a project that brings people together? Submit your proposal and get the chance to receive funding through the Participatory Budget.

How does it work?

Step 1: Submit your idea – simple and without unnecessary paperwork. Step 2: Develop your idea into a concrete project, alone or with others. Step 3: Residents vote for their favourite projects. Step 4: The winning projects are carried out with the city’s support.

Whether you’re young or old, already involved or just curious – everyone can take part. This way, Smartville’s budget is invested in projects that truly come from its people.

Discover the Smartville Participatory Budget

Throughout the year, we organise several workshops to give all residents of Smartville the chance to share their opinions, present ideas and collaborate on a variety of themes and projects.

The next Smartville Workshop will take place on Monday 13 October 2025 at 7:30 p.m. in the Old Town Hall (Market Square 1, Smartville). You can choose one topic to discuss in more depth at the table.

Topics on the agenda:

Green energy and sustainability – group purchases, heating, solar panels and local initiatives (information session) Age-friendly Smartville – share your thoughts on the city’s senior policy (roundtable discussion) Local entrepreneurship – a conversation with local businesses and entrepreneurs about opportunities and cooperation (roundtable discussion)

Everyone is welcome – whether you want to listen, think along or actively help shape Smartville’s future.

Despite the warm weather, many residents of Smartville came to City Hall for the participatory information session about the Spatial and Mobility Plan.

After a short introduction, a presentation of the plan followed. It explained why the plan is being developed, how the process works, what it includes, and how citizen participation is organised. Participants also received an overview of how and when they can share their comments and suggestions.

After the presentation, there was a Q&A session. All questions were collected and included in a report. This report provides an overview of all comments and questions, grouped by theme. Some remarks fall outside the scope of the Spatial Plan but are still relevant for other city departments. These will also be forwarded to the appropriate teams.

During this participatory session, we already gathered a lot of valuable input for the Spatial and Mobility Plan. However, we want to give even more residents the opportunity to share their opinions! This will soon be launched on this platform.

All comments, ideas and results related to the content of the plan will be included in the next steps of the process.
